Kim Dae-ho, who transitioned from being an announcer to a TV host, chose to feature in ‘The Great Guide 2’ as a way to get his thoughts in order.
The upcoming show “MBC Everyone’s Great Guide 2,” set to debut on the 8th, is a travel reality series where a long-term resident from Korea guides visitors back to their homeland, sharing local hotspots unknown to most tourists. In this episode, celebrities Park Myungsoo, Kim Daeho, and Choi Daniel explore Rwanda, often referred to as the lesser-known jewel of Africa. There is great anticipation surrounding these robust personalities encountering Rwanda’s distinctive allure.
Specifically, Kim Dae-ho garnered notice for selecting ‘The Great Guide 2’ as his initial venture into entertainment programming following his declaration of independence. Having previously visited Italy in ‘The Great Guide 1,’ Kim Dae-ho pondered extensively before deciding to join ‘The Great Guide 2.’
Kim Dae-ho said, “Lately, I’ve been extremely occupied with work and hadn’t found much time to travel. What I really wanted was a chance to step away from everything and clear my head. That’s why when presented with this opportunity, I opted for ‘The Grand Tour’ yet again. Once I agreed to join the show, I learned we’d be heading to Africa as our initial destination. This couldn’t have worked out better.”
Africa, particularly Rwanda, stood out as an appealing location for Kim Dae-ho, known for his preference for natural settings. Responding to this idea, Kim Dae-ho commented, “The experience was even more striking due to how differently it contrasted with my preconceived notions of Africa. Typically associated with arid landscapes, Rwanda surprised me with its vibrancy. The essence of the place truly came through when interacting closely with both the environment and the local community; traveling alongside them added immensely to the journey’s value.”

Kim Dae-ho mentioned that he experienced something fresh during his journey to Rwanda. He stated, “Many individuals display humility. Facing mother nature makes me feel humble as well. In reflection, I gain a deeper understanding of myself and experience serenity. Initially, I felt somewhat anxious embarking on this adventure after leaving the group and venturing out independently. While I now must find a place to rebuild my foundation and resume working, I realized various aspects made me unstable at times. This trip allowed me to connect with nature and reflect upon it peacefully.”
“When working on Vivarium, I captured numerous images that could serve as motifs for the project. However, at one juncture, I reflected, ‘I felt accomplished; Vivarium defines my universe. Although I believed I was recreating something organic, I came to understand that replicating nature is incredibly challenging and unattainable. For this latest iteration of Vivarium, I created anew and drew many inspirations from this journey,” he explained.
