Israel Strikes Syrian Military Bases and Infrastructure: International Update

Israel Strikes Syrian Military Bases and Infrastructure: International Update

The Syrian Foreign Ministry characterized Israel’s assaults on five areas throughout the nation as an “unwarranted escalation.”

On Thursday, Syria denounced the lethal Israeli attacks throughout the nation as a “blatant infringement” of its sovereignty, following Israel’s statement that it had targeted “military assets.”

The Syrian government’s news outlets stated that the airstrikes took place near a defense research facility in Damascus, along with several other locations. Meanwhile, an independent monitoring group claimed that at least four people were killed in this recent Israeli assault on Syria, which comes after extremist factions, following their overthrow of longtime leader Bashar al-Assad, gained control.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated in aTelegram message that Israeli forces conducted aerial attacks on five different areas throughout the nation, blatantly breaching both international law and Syrian sovereignty.

This unwarranted intensification is an intentional effort to undermine Syria’s stability and increase the hardship faced by its population.

The report indicated that the airstrikes led to the “almost complete devastation” of a military airbase in the central Syrian province of Hama, resulting in injuries among numerous civilians and troops.

The Syrian state-run SANA news agency reported a strike that “hit the area near the scientific research facility” in Damascus’s northwestern Barzeh neighborhood, as well as a raid in the vicinity of Hama, though they did not specify exactly what was struck.

The Israeli military stated in a release that their forces targeted “remaining military assets at the Syrian airbases of Hama and T4, as well as further residual military installations around Damascus.”

Israel has stated its desire to stop weapons from being obtained by the new leadership, which it views as extremists.

The Syrian ministry stated that these attacks occurred while the nation was attempting to reconstruct itself following 14 years of conflict, describing it as an attempt to “normalize violence within the country.”

A few weeks ago, Israel reported that it had attacked the T4 military base in central Homs province two times, aiming to strike military assets located there.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “four individuals lost their lives and several others sustained injuries, among them staff from the Syrian defense ministry, as a result of the attacks on Hama military airport.”

The monitoring group stated that these attacks, aimed at “the leftover aircraft, runways, and control towers,” rendered the entire airport non-operational. Additionally, they reported that the strikes in Damascus were focused on the research center located in Barzeh.

Following Assad’s downfall on December 8, the Britain-based Observatory noted Israeli attacks aimed at the center of the area.

In 2018, Western nations such as the United States had attacked the defense ministry site, claiming it was connected to Syria’s “chemical weapons facilities.”

Additionally, following Assad’s downfall, Israel has stationed soldiers in a United Nations-monitored neutral area within the strategically significant Golan Heights. They have also advocated for full disarmament in southern Syria, an area adjacent to the Israeli-occupied Golan region.

The authorities in southern Syria’s Daraa announced via Telegram late Wednesday that multiple Israeli military vehicles had entered a region in the western part of the province. They also reported that “three Israeli artillery shells” were fired at the area.

The Observatory has noted multiple instances of Israeli military intrusions into southern Syria, extending past the demarcation line, over the last few months.

Last month, when visiting Jerusalem, the European Union’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas stated that Israel’s attacks on Syria were “unwarranted” and could potentially escalate tensions further.

Standing Alone After Leaving the Kim Dae-ho Organization: A Journey From Arrogance to Independence (International Edition)

Standing Alone After Leaving the Kim Dae-ho Organization: A Journey From Arrogance to Independence (International Edition)

Kim Dae-ho, who transitioned from being an announcer to a TV host, chose to feature in ‘The Great Guide 2’ as a way to get his thoughts in order.

The upcoming show “MBC Everyone’s Great Guide 2,” set to debut on the 8th, is a travel reality series where a long-term resident from Korea guides visitors back to their homeland, sharing local hotspots unknown to most tourists. In this episode, celebrities Park Myungsoo, Kim Daeho, and Choi Daniel explore Rwanda, often referred to as the lesser-known jewel of Africa. There is great anticipation surrounding these robust personalities encountering Rwanda’s distinctive allure.

Specifically, Kim Dae-ho garnered notice for selecting ‘The Great Guide 2’ as his initial venture into entertainment programming following his declaration of independence. Having previously visited Italy in ‘The Great Guide 1,’ Kim Dae-ho pondered extensively before deciding to join ‘The Great Guide 2.’

Kim Dae-ho said, “Lately, I’ve been extremely occupied with work and hadn’t found much time to travel. What I really wanted was a chance to step away from everything and clear my head. That’s why when presented with this opportunity, I opted for ‘The Grand Tour’ yet again. Once I agreed to join the show, I learned we’d be heading to Africa as our initial destination. This couldn’t have worked out better.”

Africa, particularly Rwanda, stood out as an appealing location for Kim Dae-ho, known for his preference for natural settings. Responding to this idea, Kim Dae-ho commented, “The experience was even more striking due to how differently it contrasted with my preconceived notions of Africa. Typically associated with arid landscapes, Rwanda surprised me with its vibrancy. The essence of the place truly came through when interacting closely with both the environment and the local community; traveling alongside them added immensely to the journey’s value.”

So “Don’t we have familiar animals in places like Tanzania and Kenya?” However, unlike these creatures, I encountered wildlife with a much untamed vibe. This experience felt quite novel. To identify the specific animals you spotted, check out the actual broadcast.

Kim Dae-ho mentioned that he experienced something fresh during his journey to Rwanda. He stated, “Many individuals display humility. Facing mother nature makes me feel humble as well. In reflection, I gain a deeper understanding of myself and experience serenity. Initially, I felt somewhat anxious embarking on this adventure after leaving the group and venturing out independently. While I now must find a place to rebuild my foundation and resume working, I realized various aspects made me unstable at times. This trip allowed me to connect with nature and reflect upon it peacefully.”

“When working on Vivarium, I captured numerous images that could serve as motifs for the project. However, at one juncture, I reflected, ‘I felt accomplished; Vivarium defines my universe. Although I believed I was recreating something organic, I came to understand that replicating nature is incredibly challenging and unattainable. For this latest iteration of Vivarium, I created anew and drew many inspirations from this journey,” he explained.

Trump Ignites Global Trade War with Sweeping Tariffs

Trump Ignites Global Trade War with Sweeping Tariffs

President Donald Trump sparked what could become a devastating worldwide trade conflict on Wednesday when he imposed 10% tariffs on goods imported globally and introduced stringent additional duties on major trading allies.

Displaying a chart detailing extensive measures in the White House Rose Garden, Trump announced stringent tariffs targeting key trading partners such as China and the European Union, referring to the day as “Liberation Day.”

U.S. President Donald Trump announced a series of tariffs on trading partners and rivals. The image was provided by AFP.

In my view, this is one of the key dates in American history,” stated Trump. “Today marks our declaration of economic independence.

The announcement sparked instant outrage — with the United States’ ally Australia denouncing the tariffs as “not the gesture of a friend” — and prompted vows of reprisal from various countries worldwide.

The stock market appeared poised for significant fluctuations upon resuming trading on Thursday. American futures dropped sharply, and safe-haven gold reached an all-time high as investors grew wary.

Trump directed his harshest criticisms at countries he accused of mistreating the U.S., imposing tariffs such as 34% on products from geopolitical competitor China, 20% on items from the European Union, and 24% on goods from Japan.

As for the others, Trump stated that he would implement a minimum tariff of 10%, which would also apply to another major ally, Britain.

The 78-year-old Republican dismissed concerns about potential unrest, asserting that the tariffs would bring back a once-lost “Golden Era” for the U.S. economy.

“For many years, our nation has faced theft, destruction, rape, and plunder at the hands of countries close and distant, whether allies or adversaries,” Trump stated.

‘Make America wealthy again’

A carefully selected crowd consisting of cabinet members along with employees wearing hard hats from sectors such as steel, oil, and natural gas clapped and shouted enthusiastically when Trump stated that the tariffs would “bring wealth back to America.”

The broad auto tariffs of 25%, which President Trump declared earlier this week, were scheduled to come into force at 12:01 am (0401 GMT) on Thursday.

Trump labelled Wednesday’s tariffs “reciprocal” but many experts say his administration’s estimates for levies placed on US imports by other countries are wildly exaggerated

For several weeks, the U.S. president had hinted at this action, which raised concerns about an economic downturn domestically due to increased costs being borne by American consumers, along with potential harm from a trade conflict internationally.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent cautioned countries against implementing retaliatory measures, stating on Fox News: “Should you choose to retaliate, it will lead to further escalation.”

Several Asian countries heavily impacted as trading partners included drops such as 49% for Cambodia, 46% for Vietnam, and 44% for Myanmar, under military rule and recently struck by a severe earthquake.

A White House official stated that Russia wasn’t impacted since it is already under sanctions related to the Ukraine conflict, which “rule out any significant trade.”

The tariffs will also reinforce fears that Trump is backing even further away from US allies towards a new order based on a vision of American supremacy.

‘Fight’

On Thursday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the tariffs were “completely unjustified.”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who has aligned closely with former U.S. President Donald Trump, stated that the tariffs imposed on the European Union were “incorrect.” However, she affirmed her commitment to collaborate with Washington to reach an agreement.

The UK emerged largely unscathed following a diplomatic effort that saw Prime Minister Keir Starmer visiting the White House to present an invitation from King Charles III for a state visit, yet they still aimed to “alleviate” the imposed tariffs.

Canada and Mexico are exempt from the new tariffs because Trump has already penalized these two neighboring countries over his claims regarding their inadequate efforts to combat fentanyl drug smuggling and illegal migration.

The Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, pledged to combat the current tariffs on steel, aluminum, and vehicles and to introduce retaliatory measures.

Brazil’s Congress responded by passing legislation permitting the government in South America’s biggest economy to address trade barriers.

Trump’s declaration just three months into his second term marks the end point of a longstanding romance with tariffs, which he has viewed for years as a panacea for America’s trade deficits and economic problems.

Trump Ignites Global Trade War with Sweeping Tariffs

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump sparked what could become a devastating trade conflict by imposing broad 10 percent tariffs on goods imported globally and stringent extra duties on major trading allies.

Standing before the American flags in the White House Rose Garden, Trump announced stringent tariffs on both China and the European Union, referring to the day as “Liberation Day.”

Trump’s tariffs sparked instant outrage, with the United States’ ally Australia denouncing them as “unjustified” and Italy deeming them “incorrect,” while several nations have pledged countermeasures.

“For many years, our nation has faced theft, destruction, exploitation, and plunder at the hands of countries close and distant, regardless of whether they were allies or adversaries,” Trump stated.

When Trump delivered his statement, Wall Street was not yet open for business; however, the S&P index had dropped by 1.5 percent during extended trading hours. Meanwhile, the value of the dollar decreased by one percent relative to the euro while he spoke, though it later rebounded.

Trump directed his harshest criticisms at countries he accused of mistreating the U.S., imposing tariffs such as 34% on products from geopolitical competitor China, 20% on imports from the European Union, and 24% on those from Japan.

However, the 78-year-old Republican — who displayed a chart listing the highest tariffs — mentioned that he was being “quite lenient” and thus was only applying half the rate that the “biggest culprits” imposed on American goods.

– ‘Rebuild American Prosperity’ –

As for the others, Trump stated he would enforce a “minimum” tariff of 10 percent, which would also apply to another major ally, Britain.

A crowd consisting of cabinet members along with employees wearing hard hats from sectors such as steel, oil, and gas loudly applauded and cheered as Trump stated that the tariffs would “reestablish America’s wealth.”

This marks the Liberation Day,” Trump stated, emphasizing that it will “go down in history as the moment when American manufacturing was rejuvenated.

The broad-based auto tariffs of 25 percent that were declared by Trump earlier this week are set to be implemented at 12:01 am (0401 GMT) on Thursday.

Canada and Mexico are exempt from the new tariffs because Trump has previously implemented duties on these two U.S. neighbors due to his claim that they have failed to stop the illegal flow of the drug fentanyl.

Trump had hinted at this action for several weeks, asserting that tariffs would prevent other nations from exploiting the United States and foster a new economic “Golden Era.”

However, numerous specialists caution that these tariffs could lead to an economic downturn domestically as they result in higher costs for American consumers, and may also spark a detrimental trade conflict internationally.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent cautioned countries against implementing retaliatory measures, stating on Fox News: “Should you choose to retaliate, it will lead to further escalation.”

The global community has been anticipating Trump’s announcement with great tension, and his imposed tariffs have affected nations across the planet.

A number of regions heavily affected were in Asia, with percentages such as 49% for Cambodia, 47% for Vietnam, and 44% for Myanmar, under military rule and recently struck by a catastrophic earthquake.

The country with the highest rate of 50 percent was Lesotho — the Southern African nation that Trump recently referred to as a place “no one has ever heard of.”

– ‘Totally unwarranted’ –

The tariffs will also reinforce fears that Trump is backing even further away from US allies towards a new order based on a vision of American supremacy.

On Thursday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the tariffs were “completely unjustified” and would alter how people view the U.S.-Australia relationship.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who has aligned closely with former U.S. President Donald Trump, criticized the tariffs imposed on the European Union as “incorrect.” However, she affirmed her commitment to collaborate with Washington towards reaching an agreement.

Britain emerged largely unscathed following a diplomatic effort that saw Prime Minister Keir Starmer visiting the White House bearing an invitation from King Charles III for a state visit.

However, it continues to be dedicated to finalizing a trade agreement that could “alleviate” the 10 percent tariff it currently bears, according to business minister Jonathan Reynolds.

Trump has had a long love affair with tariffs, insisting in the face of experts that they are a cure-all for America’s trade imbalances and economic ills.

The wealthy entrepreneur claims that these taxes will lead to a “renaissance” of America’s depleted manufacturing sector, and he asserts that businesses can circumvent these duties by relocating to the U.S.

Bangkok’s 49-Storey ‘Ghost Tower’ Virally Survives Powerful Earthquake

Bangkok’s 49-Storey ‘Ghost Tower’ Virally Survives Powerful Earthquake

The 49-story Sathorn Unique Tower, an abandoned structure in Bangkok, Thailand, gained widespread attention online when it surprisingly withstood a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, which rattled much of Southeast Asia.

The most powerful earthquake Myanmar had experienced in a century hit on March 28, causing vibrations felt all the way in Bangkok, which was approximately 1,000 kilometers away from the epicenter. This seismic event led to the collapse of an unfinished high-rise structure and jolted numerous buildings across the city.

Nonetheless, the Sathorn Unique Tower, situated in Bangkok’s Sathon District and deserted for over three decades, continued to stand tall, baffling numerous people.

Many people on social media posted pictures of the edifice, raising doubts about how this derelict construction managed to survive the intense seismic event.

An image posted online depicts a sight of the Sathorn Unique Tower, a 49-story structure located in Bangkok.

A user posted on Reddit about their recent visit to Bangkok with their partner over the past few weeks. They expressed being captivated upon their initial sightseeing experience, stating they were very interested in learning more,

I was curious about that particular building. It seems as though they might consider retrofitting it before putting it up for sale. Hasn’t anything been done with it yet?

Initially envisioned in the 1990s as an upscale mixed-use development, the building was intended to stand at 49 stories tall with spectacular vistas of the Chao Phraya River. Nonetheless, when construction reached approximately half-way point, the Asian financial crisis struck in 1997, severely impacting Thailand’s economy.
The Telegraph
reported.

Numerous property developments, such as the tower, were left unfinished because of insufficient financial backing.

In its unfinished condition and ghostly, skeletal look, the structure earned the nickname “Ghost Tower.” Its haunting charm makes it a perfect spot for adventurous travelers seeking thrills.

He paid 200 baht (US$5.84) to a security guard for permission to enter for 15 minutes.

Travel vlogger Jack Morris, boasting an impressive following of 2.4 million on Instagram, explored the highest level of the Sathorn tower back in 2015.

He penned, “Each time I visit Bangkok, I find myself scaling this deserted 49-story structure. To me, it offers the finest vista of the metropolis. The sense of liberation I experience here is unparalleled; it’s an emotion absent from those observatories atop skyscrapers filled with bars. It goes by the nickname ‘Ghost Tower’ among locals due to rumors suggesting it might be cursed.”
