The renowned Transfagarasan mountain highway in Romania has been featured in a list of the planet’s top driving adventures.
The research conducted by the travel insurance provider InsureandGo determined the count of pertinent tourist sites scattered across various routes with the help of an online mapping tool. Subsequently, they computed this figure against the total distance of each journey to identify those offering the greatest concentration of points of interest, thereby designating them as the most thrilling expeditions available.
Europe leads the top rankings, securing eight positions in the upper echelons.

, featuring standout routes among the top 20 such as Spain’s The Basque Circuit and Romania’s Transfagarasan Highway traversing the scenic Făgăraș Mountains.
The rankings place the UK at the number one position, where Derbyshire’s Peak District route is recognized as having the highest concentration of attractions worldwide. In second place is Germany’s Black Forest High Road, followed closely by Hawaii’s Hana Highway in third.
Globally, Romania’s Transfagarasan ranks 19th, offering an average of 1.9 attractions for every 10 kilometers, which falls short compared to the leading position, boasting 11.3 attractions over the same distance.
The rankings also feature the Hana Highway (USA), the Amalfi Coast Drive (Italy), the Causeway Coastal Route (Northern Ireland), la Route des Vins d’Alsace (France), the Highland Tourist Route ( Scotland), along with numerous additional routes.
