New York Yankees
paid homage to Brett Gardner’s deceased son Miller before their first Opening Day MLB game of the season, after his untimely passing in Costa Rica.
Miller, 14, was found dead in his hotel room while on vacation with dad Brett and the rest of the Gardner family in the Central American country last week.
In light of the ongoing inquiry into the cause of his unexpected death, the Yankees paid tribute to their ex-outfielder’s son during the season opener against them by observing a moment of silence beforehand.

Brett, who claimed victory in the World Series with the Yankees back in 2009, along with his spouse Jessica, shared a sorrowful message on Sunday. They announced that Miller passed away following an illness that affected not only him but also various other relatives during their holiday.
The reason for the teenager’s passing remains unknown. Even 24 hours following Brett and Jessica’s heart-wrenching announcement, the initial cause of death has not been clarified.

Asphyxia has been eliminated as a cause.
Since there was no blockage in his airway at the time of death, authorities are now investigating whether he might have experienced an allergic response to some medication.
Nervous residents in the Costa Rican town of Manuel Antonio anxiously await the judgment, with concerns that prison terms might be imposed.
“It’s a difficult subject,” a bartender at a hotel in the resort town mentioned.
