Today, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) presented donations consisting of several vehicles, notably a specialized ambulance, aimed at bolstering security and healthcare provisions in Lagos State. These contributions were made to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), which received two vehicles, as well as to the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute Metta, where they handed over the ICU-capable ambulance.
At the ceremony for handing over the security vehicles, Isaac Akinjogunla, the Country Security Manager for SNEPCo—who stood in for Managing Director Ronald Adams—stated that this act “highlights our commitment to supporting initiatives by the Lagos State Government aimed at ensuring safety within the state.” He also emphasized the importance of “using these vehicles responsibly and maintaining them properly so that community members can fully benefit from their contribution.”
Engr Oluwaseyi Omotowa, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer at NNPC’s Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), stated during an address delivered by Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, Deputy Manager of External Relations, “These vehicles will enhance the operational capabilities of security forces, thereby contributing to a secure living space for everyone. Our contribution aligns with our continuous efforts in supporting education and health services across the region, showcasing our comprehensive strategy towards societal investments.”
The Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, expressed his gratitude to NNPC-SNEPCo for their contribution, stating: “In collaboration, we can strive toward an environment that ensures safety and security, enabling our enterprises to flourish and keeping our families protected.” In 2020, NNPC-SNEPCo provided 16 vehicles aimed at enhancing security measures in Lagos.
The specialized ambulance was presented to the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute Metta on behalf of the SNEPCo Managing Director by David Aghaiyo, who serves as the Safety and Environment Manager. In his statement, he mentioned, “This ambulance enhances the overall healthcare system in the area by ensuring prompt transport and immediate medical attention.”
In her remarks, Mrs. Lawson, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer at NUIMS, stated that Mr. Oluwaseyi Omotowa emphasized, “Healthcare holds a vital position in the lives of Nigerians, and we are committed to backing programs aimed at enhancing access to superior healthcare.” Dr. Adedamola Dada, the Medical Director and CEO of the health center, referred to the donated ambulance as an “answered prayer,” noting that it would assist the facility in managing the high volume of patients needing these services.
NNPC-SNEPCo’s social investment portfolio, backed by partners like Total Energies, Exxon, and Nigerian Agip Exploration, encompasses transformative programs such as scholarships, building educational facilities including IT centers and digital libraries, healthcare initiatives, along with vocational training and mentoring through the Shell LiveWIRE program aimed at promoting self-employment.
