Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has addressed a statement released by the Judiciary and the Eastern Africa Development Bank, following their accusation that he made statements to the public regarding issues currently before the courts.
In a brief statement, Tuju redirected the criticism towards the Supreme Court judges, alleging that they established a precedent by addressing issues currently pending in court.
“If I am to be held accountable for violating the rule of sub judice, I would be happy to share the dock with the Supreme Court judges who, in fact, violated the sub judice rules in the first place. As for myself, I have remained silent since filing the case against the SCOK judges at the JSC last April. It was only after these judges publicly commented on the matter that I exercised my right to respond,” he stated.
He criticized the judicial system for not addressing the conduct of two Supreme Court justices who allegedly first brought these issues into the spotlight through their courtroom activities and public talks in Meru and various other places, events that received extensive media coverage.
Tuju similarly placed both the Judiciary and the bank under scrutiny for purportedly attempting to prevent the media from covering the matter.

The case between Dari Limited and the East African Development Bank (EADB) has faced litigation across various courts and regions,” as stated by the Judiciary release.
Earlier, Tuju claimed that high-ranking judicial authorities worked together with an EADB official to falsely implicate him in the case.
He revealed that he had lodged complaints with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) against five Supreme Court judges who had backed Okwara’s affidavits, subsequently exposed as fake. The JSC is scheduled to examine these accusations made against the judges.
In July 2020, Tuju spent KSh 50 million to protect his prized Karen property from being sold off at an auction by EADB.
The lender took legal action in a London courtroom and secured rulings to seize the assets after Tuju and his firm, Dari Limited, were deemed to be in default of a loan agreement.

Senator Risa Hontiveros appealed to the global community for assistance in dismantling transnational criminal organizations in the Philippines.

The poll conducted from March 15 to 20 for the Stratbase group revealed that the 4Ps party-list remains the top choice out of the 156 groups competing in this year’s elections.

The Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) stated that Teodoro ought to be provided an opportunity to present his perspective regarding the accusations made against him.

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos’ declaration that he will “never abolish” the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) proved that his administration continues the same repressive policies of his predecessor former president Rodrigo Duterte, according to House assistant minority leader and Gabriela women’s party Rep. Arlene Brosas.
“Marcos is no different from Duterte. His refusal to disband the NTF-ELCAC despite its documented human rights violations and partisan political activities shows that this administration remains committed to the same tactics that terrorize activists, progressive organizations, and ordinary citizens,” Brosas said.
Marcos’ comment followed shortly after when Gabriela, a women’s party, submitted an official grievance to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against the NTF-ELCAC due to their persistent red-tagging operations. These actions breach electoral regulations that forbid government entities from engaging in partisan political acts during elections.
During her campaign trip in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Brosas shared that one of her backers found some black propaganda material which branded her as a terrorist and encouraged people not to back her bid for office.
She pointed out that billions of pesos are being allocated to the NTF-ELCAC’s operations, including the P10 million per barangay under its Barangay Development Program, while essential social services remain severely underfunded.
For its part, rights group Karapatan vowed to block efforts by the government to further fund the NTF-ELCAC.
Karapatan secretary general Cristina Palabay has criticized Marcos for ignoring the crimes committed by the NTF-ELCAC.
Of these, there are 119 instances of extrajudicial killings and 76 attempted extrajudicial killings.
