“Manchester United have started discussions with Senne Lammens, a 23-year-old goalkeeper from Antwerp, although he lacks experience,” said the 46-year-old on his Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel.
Does this relate more to team depth rather than bringing in someone who can contribute right away?
Does Manchester United have to find someone capable of stabilizing things in that role, or are they relying on their current players, Bayindir and Onana, to compete for the starting goalkeeper spot?
Onana will be departing for the AFCON tournament during the winter, which will once more create challenges. I’m not sure, buddy. This issue will need to be resolved soon since currently, there’s uncertainty within the defense.
As a defensive player, I understand that doubt coming from behind leads to chaos, and for true success and reliability, such instability must not exist.
Ferdinand referred to Bayindir’s brief tenure as top player this season as “unstable,” yet believes the 27-year-old has demonstrated hints of promise.
He claimed Onana still lacks consistency, and his substitute appears unreliable during set pieces.
I believe Bayindir has promise, yet currently appears rather anxious, particularly when the ball is placed beneath the crossbar. Additionally, during last weekend’s match, there was an error leading to a goal. In terms of set pieces, our team seems exposed.
I joined the club during Fabian Barthez’s time there. However, prior to that, Peter Schmeichel was part of the team. Barthez was a World Cup champion but still seemed uneasy in his position, which shows how challenging this role can be.
Following that, we had Tim Howard, Roy Carroll, Tomasz Kuszczak, Ricardo, until we came across Edwin [van der Sar].

Although newly signed player Benjamin Sesko might get his debut appearance for United following his substitute appearances in the team’s initial two matches of the season.
