Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), India — On Tuesday morning, the yearly Khandli Mata Chari Yatra, an important spiritual occasion, came to a successful end under stringent security measures in Peeri village within the Rajouri district.

The pilgrimage occurred amidst the peaceful yet arduous landscape of the Pirpanjal Mountain Range, found within the boundaries of the Kotranka Subdivision in the Rajouri District.

Nestled among these mountains, the shrine attracted thousands of devoted pilgrims who traversed difficult trails to receive blessings.

Given possible security issues, officials put thorough safety measures into place, including positioning police and paramilitary units at crucial points along the path.

Thanks to the watchful oversight of the security team, the whole event went off without any issues.

The pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath will begin on July 3rd this year, starting concurrently from both paths—the Pahalgam route in the Anantnag district and the one from Baltal in the Ganderbal district.

The Yatra will conclude on August 9 coinciding with the celebration of Raksha Bandhan.

The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, presided over the 48th meeting of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) held at Raj Bhavan previously. During this gathering, he declared the commencement date for the pilgrimage.

The board suggested several steps and actions to enhance the amenities and services even further.

Given the probable surge in pilgrim numbers for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, the meeting focused on strategies to boost lodging facilities across centers in Jammu, Srinagar, and elsewhere. The discussion also covered activating Yatri support hubs for electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) processes, distributing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards, and enabling on-the-spot registrations for travelers at various sites such as Nowgam and Katra Railway Stations.

It was additionally discussed that these facilities should also be appropriately upgraded at Baltal, Pahalgam, Nunwan, and Pantha Chowk Srinagar, according to the needs.

While reviewing the advancements made in several projects being managed by the respective line departments, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of providing sufficient facilities and necessary amenities along the routes for the pilgrimage.

He also demanded boosting the facilities at Yatri Niwas, Pantha Chowk, and Srinagar.

The discussion covered several topics including progress updates on current initiatives, sharing details about Yatra activities, arranging insurance coverage for pilgrims as well as service providers such as pony handlers, extending online offerings through the Shrine Board, broadening and upkeep of pilgrimage routes, implementing strategies to reduce congestion around the Sacred Cave and the Lower Sacred Cave region, preparing for potential disasters and planning response mechanisms, ensuring sufficient helicopter support along with healthcare amenities, developing weather forecasting infrastructure and systems, enhancing security measures, and introducing a digital pre-payment option for rental services.
