Netanyahu Reverses Decision on Sharvit’s Appointment as Head of Israel’s Anti-Terror Security Agency

Tel Aviv [
Israel
], April 1 (ANI/TPS):
Israel
Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu
Met up once more last night with my ex.
Israel
Navy Commander, Vice-Admiral (Ret.)
Eli Sharvit
concerning the choice to revoke Sharvit’s position as the leader of the
Israel
Security Agency (ISA), referred to in Hebrew as the
Shin Bet
(
Israel
‘anti-terror National Security Service’).

Within less than 24 hours of announcing Sharvit’s selection, Netanyahu reversed his decision.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Major General Sharvit for volunteering to serve again, yet notified him that following additional consideration, he planned to explore other options among potential candidates.

The Prime Minister requested me to assume the position of head of the service and keep serving the State.

During this challenging period—and that’s what I did,” stated Sharvit. “It was driven by complete faith in the General Security Service’s capability to address the intricate issues arising lately, coupled with a modest trust in my own capacity to guide it towards success.” (ANI/TPS)
